A Big Shock For Little Delaware

The folly of state-run and sanctioned gambling as a way to raise revenue cannot be overstated. But little Delaware got a big shock this week when the NCAA told it that if a plan to legalize sports betting goes forward then it will ban post-season collegiate playoff games in the state.

As it is, the University of Delaware football team, a six-time national champion, has hosted 10 playoff games alone this decade, and you don't need a crystal ball to know how this controversy will turn out: The state will back off and the playoff games will go on.
