Best Holiday Wishes From Kiko's House

Kiko's House will be dark for a few days while I'm on the road.

In the meantime, I'll leave you with this lovely untitled woodcut by John DePol, who was the preeminent American practitioner of wood engraving before his passing at age 91 a year ago tomorrow. I had the honor of meeting Mr. DePol, who gifted his extensive collection to the rare book and manuscript library where I work.

To learn more about this marvelous man and his 70-plus year career, go to:

If you have only a few minutes, I'd suggest that you check out Mr. DePol's etchings and wood engravings of his native New York City. They're stunning.
